I think it is impossible to create this bug anymore. I looked in the database and the problem was bad data. I guess (from what I saw) how this happened is that long time ago the field actually allowed you to paste anything you want into it, and someone must have pasted a URL in it. Right now, since it's an object selector, it should not happen anymore.
I have deleted the broken relation and add the relation again.
