Description

Using services like http://www.stopforumspam.com can help to identify and handle spam-related mail addresses trying to create an account.

stopforumspam provides an API to test a mail address against a "known spammer"-list. This could be used to warn an admin before confirming an account.

Solution

UI: "Registration & Log in"
Extend the option "Needs validation by an admin" by two further options:

  • "Validation by admin only when positive tested by stopforumspam". This will request for validation by an admin only when the mail address provided is in their list. Otherwise an account is created automatically as when the "Needs validation..."-option wasn't set.

  • "Ban mail adress when positive tested by stopforumspam." This will silently delete the account created when the mail address is found in the list. All others will need a confirmation by admin.
