Calendars: tiki-admin_calendars.tpl incomplete localization

tiki-calendar_import.php incohesive markups
The help for calendar import seems to be broken, some translation markups are missing, thus it does not get correctly localized into ANY language. And even in English the text does not make much sense. There is no <br> markup in CSV files. So guess those line breaks should format the help output, but not be displayed as themselves in the output of the help. Everything after line 25 should be checked.

Working with 4.1 new install, trying to set up a calendar and I'm able to admin the cal just fine and can add events, but when I click on the Calendar link to view calander it returns a blank page. Any advise? Also I have 64mb in php.ini

This was posted in Forum: Features/Usability @ http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?topics_offset=1&forumId=4&comments_parentId=36119

Here is the link to my site and to the calendar. Select view calendars which will take you to the bottom link which is blank.

Time Zone offset setting
Webcalendar offers a setting Timezone Offset to Subtract or add hours to server time.

{draw name=timezoneoffset}

This would make things simpler for site which all events are in a common timezone.

Ex.: Showing UTC time in RSS feeds is not very useful...

Goal: to add a way to represent relevant data in a timeline.

This will most probably be done by re-using an existing library and/or service.

title of filtered calendar to show up on top of calendar page
It is a small thing, but it would be nice if the calendar page would show which calendar is being viewed at the top of the page. I think it would make it more clear to users who are new to the system and just want to use the calendar.

to be synched/fetched: event details of of Calendar event and details in a Tracker item with Tracker field Calendar item
__Objective:__

The objective of my feature request is a more efficient way to create, to edit and to display Calendar event data, when used together with a Tracker.

This would be useful especially in the context of project management tools like Kanban (under heavy development) and Trackercalendar.

All features and functionality like Trackercalendar, Kanban, Calendar events, should provide different simple and versatile views, based on the very same Calendar item and thus be freely combined and happily created by simply filling one simple Tracker form.

__Use case example / context and problem:__

I got the idea whilst working on a Tiki 25.0vcs (InnoDB, git, ...) for a small personal private office project, where I test a bunch of features.

I made a 'Task' list with Tracker ... this is planned to be used together with Kanban.

The 'Task' list contains a field type 'date and time (calendar event)' which creates a calendar event when the Tracker item is created. As far as I understand, the Tracker item displays the Start date (and time) of the Calendar event, which is connected / related to the respective Tracker item.

This is working fine and it is even possible to switch the relation of the Tracker item to another existing calendar event.
The name of the Tracker item will be the title of the Calendar event (which is good!)

Sadly the actual date and time is the only data that seems to be displayed in the Tracker item so far.
Imho it would be important to have the option to share the same item description for the Tracker item and the Calendar event.

Currently I can create a Tracker field 'Textarea' in the Tracker and use it as description.
But there is no option, that this description textarea would be displayed as decription of the calendar item. Aswell it is not possible to display the Calendar event's description in the Tracker item.

When the Tracker item is created it is only possible to distinguish the Calendar item's start date.
Only after creation the Tracker item can be displayed and from there an edit-button pressed and then the details of the Calendar item edited, like Start date and End date, duration, description, participants, and all the other data of a calendar event.
This process needs to be simplyfied.
All these data details needs to be optionally displayed in the Tracker and in the Calendar, in a way that Tracker and Calendar just provide a different view on the same event.

__Following additional functionality would be required:__

# Add a Tracker field type ' Calendar event details' to display data from the Calendar event that is (currently) connected to the Tracker item.
+
# This Tracker field type shall have options (maybe comma separated list) to display the content of one or more Calendar event fields like End date, duration, description, participants, etcetera.
+
# It shall be possible that several Tracker fields of type ' Calendar event details' exist in one Tracker item. This way this field type could be used
** either similar to a field type "item list' (display several calendar details in one Tracker field)
** or similar to a field type 'dynamic item list', respectively 'item link' (display one Calendar event detail per Tracker field for more detailed display option)
+
# The Tracker field type 'Calendar event' should provide the option (to the user) to distiguish and completely fill out all Calendar event data details at the time of Tracker item creation.
+The user should not be required additional steps to reopen the event for then providing the Calendar details that he would have wanted to provide in the first place.
+
# For long time the Trackercalendar did use no calendar items but individual 'date and time' fields to create a calendar like planning tool for ressources. As far as I know the Trackercalendar was not any connected with the calendar feature. Imho it would be a good idea to create the start and end dates of the Trackercalender by using the field type 'Calendar event'

Too many backlinks to calendar events get created
When you have backlinks to calendar events enabled, a wiki page that gets linked to from a calendar event that has a repetition rule, the wiki page's backlinks list ALL instances of the calendar event, which can be up to 99 !

At this point of course the real culprit is the inability of Calendar to actually have (and admin) repetition rules. What calendar does in reality is that it creates "n" copies of the event, which is a nuisance.

And due to a bug in calendar, entering an event with a repetition rule is always created twice, so you have to manually delete one after the creation.

Tracker/Calendar integration (birthdays and reminders)
My cohort spent the day yesterday entering employee birthdays onto a calendar, and when I saw the 'Items since last login' box pop up with them, I realized: things like birthdays should really be in a Usertracker not a calendar...

But then they should also show up on calendars and upcoming events... that would be more, well, social.

I mangled the event cal and the regular cal code together to make up a special purpose tracker display for vacation requests.. all hardcoded and ugly at the moment, so of limited use to anyone else... but..

It occurs to me that others may have a use for some sort of tracker -> calendar interaction. The Birthdays in usertrackers seems to be the most obvious one, but date ranges would also be nice.

The interface may be icky though... i think the calendar should be able to pull things from the tracker, ideally it would be neat if it became a new cal that could overlay others (ie, "birthdays" and "beer bashes" could overlay so you knew who got free beer...).

TrackerCalendar display in list (agenda) mode fails (never ending spinner and nothing shown)
((doc:PluginTrackerCalendar)) allows to display tracker items in calendar view, as well as resource view.
An extra option was suported by fullcalendar lib and ported to tiki a few years ago, which displays items in "list" view, which is like an "agenda" view of items from the tracker calendar info.
https://doc.tiki.org/PluginTrackerCalendar#List_views

In Tiki 24.x this list view is not shown, and some neverending spinner is displayed instead.
Reproduced in short in a show instance here:
---

When attempting to reproduce it I realized where the problem was: -+listYear+- as default view doesn't exist as such (even if the button in the UI says "List Year" for that param, but the param internally is "-+list+- (while all the others related to list are listMonth, listWeek, lkistDay

Solved. Closing report and removing show instance.

Trackers, Calendar field; The workflow of editing a tracker field date and time (calendar item) in a tracker item lead to losing the item editing
On Tiki25 I have a tracker with a tracker calendar item field.
If I edit the tracker item fields then edit the event itself, on saving the event the event editing is saved but all my item editing is lost.

View item detail in list view
When edit_calendar permission assigned, link on item name in list view leads to edit mode "on top". Details in view mode appear at the very end of the edit page. Neadless to say no-one scrolls down there to take a look. Could details be put "on top" as access to edit is available from the next colum.

Not really a bug, nor a feature request. just a usability/user experience improvement...

Watch calendar (receive email notication of changes)
Tiki Calendar is very nice for events. But what if someone updates the information about an event? Maybe I won't know (because I copy/pasted the event my pesonal calendar) and I will show up at the old (wrong) time.

Tiki's excellent watch feature should be added (with the little eye) to
# all calendars
# each calendar (id=1) (this could be nice on the filter tab)
# each individual event (when in view mode)

Ideally, for a modified event, I would receive in the email the old and the new value, like for watching trackers.

In 1.9.0 (and probably 1.8.x), it is possible to delete a calendarId (ex.:1)

When this happens, all calitemId are set to calendarId=0
