!! 2002
Tiki was first released in October 2002 using [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concurrent_Versions_System|CVS] on [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SourceForge|SourceForge]
The path to the source code was: http://tikiwiki.cvs.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/tiki/
!! 2005
We had a major issue with branch-1.10.x and thus: ((RefreshHEAD))
!! 2008
The Tiki project transitioned to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Subversion|Subversion (SVN)] as of ((doc:Tiki2)), remaining at SourceForge. The platform was called [https://sourceforge.net/projects/alexandria/|Alexandria] (internal name, not really promoted)
The path to the source code was https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/ (now inactive)
The ((doc:TRIM|Tiki Remote Instance Manager)) (TRIM) project was started, and it offered a tool to convert a CVS instance to SVN.
!! 2012
On 2012-03-05, [article370-Tiki-reaches-500-contributors-with-commit-access|Tiki reaches 500 contributors with commit access]
On 2012-12-12, Tiki source code management ((tw:Migrate to Allura|moved to the new platform offered by SourceForge.net))
The path to the source code became: https://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/code/HEAD/tree/ and svn info would show this path: https://svn.code.sf.net/p/tikiwiki/code/branches/
In SVN, each commit has a sequential ID. Pattern to access a commit is: https://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/code/57668/
The old platform was "Alexandria", and the new one "Allura". The URL was https://sourceforge.net/projects/allura/
And later became [https://forge-allura.apache.org/p/allura/git/ci/master/tree/|Apache Allura]
!! 2018
In May 2018, during the ((doc:Tiki19)) development cycle, a ((Git and SVN combined workflow)) using ([https://subgit.com/|SubGit]) was set up by [https://github.com/lfagundes|Luis Fagundes] (and later managed by [https://github.com/fabiomontefuscolo|Fabio Montefuscolo]). The canonical source code was still SVN on SourceForge, but contributors progressively started collaborating on https://gitlab.com/tikiwiki/tiki
In November 2018, ((doc:Tiki Manager)) started as a ((TRIM Revamp|revamp/fork/major upgrade of TRIM)). Tiki Manager supported SVN and Git.
!! 2019
Git was discussed in community meetings such as:
* https://tiki.org/Roundtable-Meeting-2019-07
* https://tiki.org/Git-Roundtable-Meeting-2019-08
Git became the default in ((doc:Tiki Manager)): https://gitlab.com/tikiwiki/tiki-manager/-/merge_requests/91
And Bernard made one of his nice videos:
{youtube movie="2vCBhfzSe7Q"}
Given the transition from SVN to Git, the number of commits Until 2018 and in 2019 after are not comparable. In Git, multiple commits are commonly squashed in the process of a merge requests. So what previously would report as 10 commits now reports as just one.

Bernard published another instructional video:

!! 2021
It was announced that:
"SVN updates (for all versions of Tiki) will stop in January 2023. This coincides with when ((doc:Tiki18)) reaches end of life. However, even if you use another version (like Tiki 21x) from SVN, you will stop getting updates because the ((Git and SVN combined workflow)) will be retired."
!! 2023
Sometime after January 2023, the ((Git and SVN combined workflow)) will be retired, and there will no longer be any updates to SVN (except perhaps to add warnings to migrate). https://gitlab.com/tikiwiki/tiki is the canonical repo. Also, [https://gitlab.com/tikiwiki/tiki/-/merge_requests/2719|Pre-Git artefacts and scripts were removed] from the code base.
!! 2024
Even if it was supposed to stop in January 2023, the sync from Git to SVN continued working until 2024-10-30 (over 21 months longer than planned). However, it stopped working and we don't plan to fix. Here is last commit on SVN: https://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/code/87011/
!! 2025
[https://gitlab.com/tikiwiki/tiki-manager/-/merge_requests/537|SVN support removed from Tiki Manager] (It was kept longer because Tiki Manager is used to manage many sites, and some old ones can be in SVN).
