Freetags would be very nice on other Tiki objects, specially Tracker items, in order to make Tiki more 2.0 compliant... (and since trackers are used by users, which not always find their natural cateogries in the pre-fixed categories by an admin system in Tiki (through categories feature)

This should be migrated to the community site, and handled with ((doc:Organic groups)) and ((doc:User Trackers))

On the Admin: Freetags page, the "Number of Tags to show in Cloud:" field controls the number of tags to display in the tag cloud (such as on the tiki-browse_freetags page).

I would like a way to tell Tiki to show __all__ the tags.

For example, I would like to enter Number of Tags to show in Cloud = 0 to have Tiki show all tags.

Admins or Moderators should be able to manage (edit and delete) tags from the web interface.

Current feature Profiles in the Control Panels in Tiki searches profile names by category filters (15.x, etc).

Most profiles in profiles.t.o were reviewed in the last years and the suitable ones were added to the ((Profiles Wizard)), in most cases, and added tags to them to facilitate the discovery of profiles that will let you learn how to master feature X or Y that you might be more interested in (e.g., trackers in general, plugin listexecute, spreadsheets, tracker field itemlink, mathematical calculation field, staging and approval, etc).

Searching profiles from within Tiki by tags (folksonomy-based search) is not yet possible. The interface is ready to search by categories (top-down approach, if the naming of the profile doesn't match your expectations, you will miss it probably). "Who knows that Barter_Market will let you practice with itemslist tracker fields? or which profiles will let you learch how to use maps with tracker items? or with convene plugin? or with listexecute plugin? etc.

We currently allow the profiles control panel to search by profile name filtering by category matching the corresponding tiki version. __We should allow that profiles control panel (and /or the Profiles Wizard interface!) to search by tag name while filtering by the same category corresponding to the corresponding tiki version.__

I tried once, but my php skills were not high enough, and didn't get the desired result.
Anyone willing to give it a go? (it shouldn't be that difficult for a senior dev, I reckon)

This tracker item could not be found

Usability issue, but not so much a bug as feature design:

If the tag cloud is large in tiki-browse_freetags.php, search results are not immediately apparent on the screen. The user has to scroll down past the cloud to see the results, which is not necessarily obvious to new and/or less savvy users.

Ideally, the beginning of the search results should be displayed near the top of the page, but with a portion of the tag cloud still visible for further search filtering. The tag cloud could automatically collapse, with a large obvious control for expanding it again, or it could be positioned side-by-side with the results. Those are the only two solutions coming to mind.

When editing a Wiki Page (properties) or an Article (classification), if you use the Tiki tags (freetags) you will see a "Tags" field with the list of the most popular or last used tags.

Normally when you click on a tag, it is added to the field.
This is not working anymore.

At https://nextdoc.tiki.org/tiki-browse_freetags.php you can see the list of all the tags.
When you click on a tag it add the term to the search field and wait for further action from the user.

When I click on the search button the term will stay in the search field and other terms will be added.

This is a bit wonky and bad for UX.

Clicking on a tag should do the job, initiate the search for the object with this tag.

Not only the UI is not great but if this is what was intended it very confusing and look broken.
In comparison with "all selected" and "last selected" and the results displayed I don't know what a user is supposed to understand. The options descriptions are also adding confusion, terms in a input (search) field are not "selected" while terms clicked on should be considered as selected (mobile era).

Go on "List Wiki page".
Select any page, copy it (duplicate page).
Enter any name to save.

Once redirected to the new page it show a warning : You don’t have permission to edit tags.
Tested on a new Tiki without tags feature activated and tested on nextdev.

As Admin, when I create new Topic Post in a Forum, and add Tags and post... if I edit the former post tags, adding more tags, they are not saved. The former tags remain.


General Settings:

In many cases, have extra structured fields in wiki pages would come in handy. Ex.: a glossary of terms may need a field for noun, adjective, etc.

Categories and tags are not in the version history, and it would be clunky anyway.

((doc:Pretty trackers)) are awesome when it's a data centric context. But when the structure emerges from the wiki, it's better to have extra fields to wiki pages.

Right now, users always make too many variations of tags. One way to solve the problem is to have Flickr style auto-complete of tags when entering them.

When an item has a Freetag added and the Freetag menu looks for content with a designated tag it will list ALL content - even if some pages are Categorized and the particular user doing the search does not have permission to access the page.

Obviously the user cannot actually access the page but being able to see it makes them think it is available to them and just knowing a particular page exists may create difficulties.

Need to filter the objects being listed (presumably in tiki-browse_freetags.php in a similar way that tiki-listpages.php does this) so that only objects that the individual user is allowed to see are listed.

At https://doc.tiki.org/tiki-browse_freetags.php you can click on any tag and it will initiate the search (after it as been fixed with https://dev.tiki.org/item7924)

However the results are "hidden" from the user eyes down at the bottom of the page.
If the user doesn't catch the quick refresh of the page he will have the impression noting happened (no search) as it will see the same list of tags in front of his eyes. True on Desktop, super-true on mobile.

The results should be visible right away after a search is done for a better UX.

Using 1.10cvs from mid june 2007.

Created a tiki from scratch (basic enabled profile). change features, and make sure freetags are enabled.

Btw, it's a multitiki installation, on subdirectories (not virtual hosting)

Categorisation is a social problem - different people have different words for the "same" category.

Use Google-like tags (check schtuff.com for a nice example) - this would make lots of wiki pages easier to find, IMHO.

I'm on Tiki Wiki 29 I enabled the Tiki Tags feature.
I'm using some tags on wiki page and I have set some tags.
But the keyword tags are not displayed in the head.

I went at tiki-admin.php?page=metatags (admin metatags).
I checked that "Include tags" is enabled. But I have also noticed I no Keywords set in the field Keywords.

As result I have no keyword on the page.
If I add just one keyword in the field, on the page i see this keyword but also all other missing keywords.

The condition for the elseif branch only triggers if either metatag_keywords or metatag_local_keywords is non-empty.

NOTE: I don't use forum so I didn't touch anything related to the way the forum fill its keywords. It may worth to have a look at it.

When using the __Freetag__ module, users must have __tiki_p_admin__ permission to remove a tag from an object. This is incorrect, it should require __tiki_p_unassign_freetags__ permission.

Line 9 of the __ freetag_list.tpl__ file should be changed from:

the column IP is too short (varchar 15) for IPv6 logging

tiki_actionlog, tiki_download, tiki_logs the column IP is very big (too big ?) varing from 39 to 200 char . In tiki_download the IP cloumn is in UPPERCASE (may be problem with some Mysql installation)

the IP is split in three columns . so we can't bann an IPv6

To reproduce: tag something with an apostrophe, like "l'apostrophe".

This tag is displayed as "l\'apostrophe" instead of "l'apostrophe"

Note: it still works for searches, so fixing the display of the freetag should not break the search feature.

We already have categories, etc.
