Quote - add a quote-button into the reply toolbox
At the moment the forums in tikiwiki have only a very basic functionality unfortunatelly. Please add a few things to make them more usable especially for people who are plain users and not developers. Second issue with quote: In case you have a more complex discussion going you often need to quote several people in one reply. It is very bad for normal users (!) to have to learn and write code. Thus a button "quote" that enters the code automatically into the eply box and only needs to be filled with name and content would be a very good improvement. |

Quote - add person who's been quoted!
At the moment the forums in tikiwiki have only a very basic functionality unfortunatelly. Please add a few things to make them more usable especially for people who are plain users and not developers. First one: Quote function is not citing (or allows no addition manually) whose post is cited. That is a forum standard feature, please add it! People at our page ask for it, we just launched and have already 50 users and will grow fast with a lot of complex discussions. That is absolutelly necessary. |

Quote plugin: reply to is not working
{img src=images/code.png}%%% {CODE(wrap=1)} {QUOTE(replyto=BillMac)} I have found that, if I want to find something on tw.o sites, I should disregard TW's search feature and use Dogpile to look things up. The TW search capability is so weak that it is almost "a missing feature." At the very least, "TermA TermB" searches should be "termA AND termB" not "termA OR termB." The plus/minus markers are fine if you're in the know, but they don't work well either. Using the category/group filters renders a whole different set of answers; not GOOD answers, just different. Without those filters, unauthorized users see parts of pages they are not supposed to see at all. Not a missing feature, a broken feature. Gosh, I hate to be so negative. {QUOTE} {CODE} Generates: {QUOTE(replyto=BillMac)} I have found that, if I want to find something on tw.o sites, I should disregard TW's search feature and use Dogpile to look things up. Redirect (or page alias) on Deleted or Renamed Wiki Pages
It would be nice when deleting (or renaming) a wiki page, if Tiki asked for a redirect (via the REDIRECT page). This would help visitors how have bookmarked the original page. Use case: #As admin, you select to DELETE (or RENAME) a wiki page. #When Tiki prompts for confirmation, there could be a checkbox & text field asking for a redirect page. +You should be able to enter ''either'' an existing wiki page or a fully qualified URL. #If you select the checkbox (and enter a new page), Tiki does not ''delete'' the page. Instead Tiki edits the page to replace all existing content with a REDIRECT plugin. There should be an option to have "301" headers so search engines know to update their DB. There is a new page Alias feature in 3.0 Renamed pages could keep old URL as an alias. This could be done by appending an invisible page alias. See attached images for UI example from MediaWiki Related: [wish1489|Wiki page name Alias] [wish1610|Redirect plugin : should permit to set status "Moved Permanently"] [wish1292|Plural WikiWords when using ((WikiWord))] |

reduce losts on forums posts and trackers due to session expired (similar solution as in wiki?)
Session expiration is producing some losts on forum posts (in a similar way it was happening on wiki edits...). That solution by ricks99 was very smart on wiki edits. Could it be added also (or similar behavior) to forum posts? --- update: Do the same on trackers!!! (show some popup if you are going to loose your session on that site) I had lost that information because I my session (apparently) expired... (maybe there was a conflict of cookies with the ones on other 1.9.9 tiki sites I was loging in and working in right now)... |

Registration :: new account :: keep email confirmation message link at less than 80 characters
Read on #wiki (freenode) (10:47:42) TheSheep: marclaporte: don't want to be rude, but I have an implementation hint for tikiwiki -- make the registration url fit in 80 chars, it will be much easier to copy to the browser this way (10:48:05) marclaporte: you mean the one you receive by email? (10:48:17) marclaporte: (not rude at all, always like feedback, good or bad) (10:48:45) TheSheep: marclaporte: yes (10:49:19) TheSheep: marclaporte: the domain name is short, if only the php file name and the password were shorter, it would fit nicely (10:49:38) TheSheep: just a small detail (10:50:07) TheSheep: most people use graphical mail clients anyways probably Below is an example: Hi marclaporte2, you or someone registered this email address at tikiwiki.org If you want to be a registered user in this site you will have to use the following link to login for the first time: http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-login_validate.php?user=marclaporte2&pass=de7fdd5c84dae05d133dc75948188b4c Enjoy the site! |

Registration on tiki.org is a too hard and may kill the site
I couldn't find a related issue (registration / register => dogfood category) so I create this. It is actually super hard to register at Tiki.org. This is critical and should be fixed asap. If you don’t enter correctly the captcha ''(this may also subject to a sub-bug because when I tested I paid attention to those too hard too read letters)'' you enter in a loop of error you can’t get out. {img fileId="1276" thumb="box"} {img fileId="1277" thumb="box"} {img fileId="1278" thumb="box"} {img fileId="1275" thumb="box"} When the website was back I tried to login and got another error: Error Account requires administrator approval. I had to validate and then to confirm email using tiki-adminusers.php. This is very bad for new user willing to register and it ended with Tiki.org not being available. |

Regression: tracker text fields with Prepend and Append values do not display correctly.
On http://demo.tiki.org/7x/ if a text field has "prepend" (text that will be displayed before the field" and "append" (text that will be displayed just after the field) defined, such as open and closed parentheses, the "prepend" value is shown AFTER the field value, while nothing shows in front of the value. See: http://demo.tiki.org/7x/tiki-view_tracker.php?trackerId=6 in which 2 fields have such parameters defined: field ID: 57 (Acro_En) and 59 (Acro_fr), both have options set to "1,15,(,),10,y" which for value "UN" should show "(UN)" or for value "ONU" should show "(ONU)" but shows instead "UN(" and "ONU(" respectively. When adding or editing items in the tracker the fields show with their prepend and append characters correctly, but when doing "view items" the values are messed up as shown above. This problem is a regression. Did not occur in v. 3, 4.x (through 4.2) or 6.0 and 6.1. __Also works on demo.tiki.org which is currently "6.4 proposals (SVN)"__. In all of these versions, tracker items show with their prepend or append values correctly. Kind regards, olaf-michael (omstefanov) |

Remember me doesn't work on *.tw.o sites
The "Remember me" feature of login on tw.o sites doesn't really work as it should. On tw.o, dev.tw.o and themes.tw.o it's set via Admin > Login to values "tikiwiki, .tikiwiki.org, /, 1 week" and it lasts only some hour or so and expires then. It's annoying to relogin many times a day. |

Remove tiki file-tree from show2.t.o instance when item is closed
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"} In order to make show*.t.o servers more sustainable (in terms of disk-space consumed by show*.t.o instances), a suggestion was fired in the [https://tiki.org/Roundtable-Meeting-2020-09|TRM of September 2020]]: once a bug report is closed, then "the system" could delete the tiki file tree linked to that bug report. Mysql db could be kept, but the many hundreds of Mb in current tiki versions from the file tree on disk could be removed to respect disk resources & availability for new show*.t.o instances. Example: show2.t.o currently consumes something like 10 new Gb per month, due to the instances being created by users. |

RFE: admin interface 4 template message emailed to new users to a group (registered, or others)
Copied some suggestion I just throwed on irc..., after fighting each time on some of my production sites to manually send messages to many users which are kind of lost some times at the beggining of their participation in a tiki-site-powered community. {QUOTE()} (11:37:39) xavi: I was just wondering about a new and easy improvement of the registration process of new users to a community sit eusing tiki (11:38:07) xavi: just through allowing an admin to add acustomized welcome message to new users successfully registered to the site... (11:38:29) xavi: ... with the text and links he might need to tell to new users.... (11:38:52) xavi: ...in a similar way to what mailman does for the welcome message to new users... (11:39:48) xavi: ...I imagine a simple text area, like site identity does, where the admin can write any simple text (with or without wiki markup? like the newsletter feature does/allows)... (11:40:45) xavi: ...so that the admin can set that message easily (without manualy searching for the appropiate template to hack through ftp)... (11:42:48) xavi: ..and the the new user, can review the infos and tips that he/she needs to know on that site: "now you can: # watch that forum where that important thing is discussed.... #join that newsletter/blog/articlefeature to be up to date about news from that community, #review and/or subscribe to that tracker..., ... (11:45:22) xavi: oh well, I can't code php+mysql myself (yet, at least ;-) ), but I guess that this shouldn't be that difficult nor time consuming to an experienced coder, provided that that person agrees on that this feature is "low hanging fruit" to improve the experience of newcomers to a community, through improving the communication while the first steps of that person in the community site... {QUOTE} This could also be important for ((Workspaces)), and ((Organic Groups)). So that, not just to register (join the registered group), but as a customized message per group, so that, when joining a new group (at registration time, or later on through the subscribe groups plugin), you get the specific message with hints, links and remindings of things adapted for that group. |

RSS feed for Articles in tiki.org produces WSOD
RSS feed for Articles in tiki.org produces WSOD. Reproduced here: https://tiki.org/tiki-articles_rss.php?ver=5 or https://tiki.org/tiki-articles_rss.php?ver=5&css=y (as indicated here https://profiles.tiki.org/RSS+Handler which used to be a valid url afair) or https://tiki.org/tiki-articles_rss.php?ver=2 However, it works well in themes.t.o: https://themes.tiki.org/tiki-articles_rss.php?ver=5 I wanted to add that articles rss feed to the Admin UI backend rss module ( loaded from here https://profiles.tiki.org/Unified_Admin_Backend_Default_Dashboard_1 ), but there is no point if it triggers some error 500 or WSOD by any other reason. Any tip anyone on how to solve? @ohertel maybe? |

PluginRSS: RSS feed on doc.tiki.org shows three times the same title
On https://doc.tiki.org/Documentation#contentdochome-3 you can see under the "The latest Tiki news" that there are links to latest articles on tiki.org but each article title is repeated there 3 times - each with slightly different link, for example: {CODE()} https://tiki.org/tiki-articles_rss.php/article447-Tiki-17-0-released https://tiki.org/tiki-articles_rss.php/img/smiles/article447-Tiki-17-0-released https://tiki.org/article447-Tiki-17-0-released {CODE} Only the third one is correct and should be there. Please fix if you know how ;) Thanks, luci --- Update 9/10/2018: This is still there and it is not helping us with automatisation that are (could) help us to spread our news on different social network tools. https://tiki.org/Community show 8 feeds for The opening of Tiki Online Open Hours Gary mentioned that a new feed is create on each editing. Seems related. --- Update 11/10/2018: I tried to understand better and check setup different websites: # On my local, debugger on, I can’t reproduce # On my own website; https://bsfez.com/playground ## First check I have a single entry for each article in the feed module ## Second check (can’t say if it is hours later or days laters) I have 2 entry for each article. It is really unlikely I edited each one once and only once so it moderate the editing option (each edit add an entry). + {img fileId="1233" thumb="box"} + {img fileId="1234" thumb="box"} # On tiki.org, they were some edit yesterday (by Luci) and now we have 4 entry for the last article + https://tiki.org/Community + {img fileId="1235" thumb="box"} |

For exemple:
Adding an event in the Tiki calendar like the Tiki Roundtable Meeting should:
* Create an article
* Create a forum post
* Create a post in the the mailing list (dev and user)
* Create (RSS feed) a shareable post in Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin
* Eventually be part of a newsletter
* ...
It require thinking the process (using category, starting from the articles instead of the calendar or even from trackers), etc. and evaluating the existing tools.
