Getting the users IP when Tiki is behind a reverse proxy
Hi to the readers,
I had an issue on a Tiki that I'm administrating.
This issue was that I had always the same IP address both in tiki-syslog.php and the history of a wiki page.
This happened because this Tiki installation is behind a reverse proxy.

To get the correct IPs, I had to check the "feature_loadbalancer" option in the "general" icon from the admin panel.

The strange thing about this from an user point of view is that I shouldn't expect to tick that box option as I'm not doing nothing about load-balancing. I was expecting to see an option such as "click that check-box if your Tiki installation is behind a reverse proxy".

It may be only a definition issue or a bigger bug. I don't know really and this is far away from my knowledge and skills.

Hope that helps and thanks again for this beautiful piece of software that Tiki is.

gif images not properly handled in dev.t.o
Uploading an animaged gif image file that shows a bug reproduced is not an easy task tin dev.t.o.
I had to do that because the record rtc feature is not usable yet, and I wanted to reproduce the issue visually. I did that in an animated gif. I edited the corresponding [item7795|bug report], and uploaded the gif file throught the toolbar icon to "Choose or upload images".
I got the image uploaded (to the default location, I didn't change it, expecting "happy path"), but the wiki syntax automatically inserted seems to not be adapted to displaying gif images.
I recall that any plugin img param that attempts to resize the image converts it to png (or Tiki used to do so years ago), so that I removed the param to make a zoombox, I just left the param to indicate the fileId. But nothing was displayed in the parsed textarea of the tracker item once saved.

Similarly, going to the view file (icon shown from the since last visit module) showed nothing, which might trigger the falsse sensation that the file upload failed.
https://dev.tiki.org/file1?fileId=1562&view=page

But it didn't fail.
If you use the oldish syntax to display the image as an image, then it displays properly, as it can be reproduced here:
https://dev.tiki.org/item7795-Cannot-use-Record-RTC-page-self-refreshed-before-accepting-perm-to-record

Couldn't we get that plugin img when using fileId param to automati8cally display the gif image as image when the plugin notices that it's a gif image indeed?
Somehow...

Greater than three hyphens in pages does not give you a horizontal rule
~np~When using three hyphens (---) you get a horizontal rule in v3.0 Beta 3, but if you use more than three hyphens (i.e. ---- ----- or ---------), you will not get a horizontal rule on the page. Greater than three hyphens was valid in version 2.x of TikiWiki to create a horizontal rule.~/np~

Group creation fails
When I want to create a new group, I constantly get the error "group name cannot be empty". But it isn't empty... For testing, I tried to create a group with an empty group name. I get another (!) error, with the same text, but not with "Error" headline, but with "Oops" headline...

After filling in a group name, the previous error kept coming up.

Before filing a bug report, I tried to replicate the error in an already existing snapshot: http://hman-11504-7951.show2.tikiwiki.org/tiki-admingroups.php.

There I cannot exactly replicate the error, but something else is going wrong there: First, I got an Ajax error, Then I got two statements of the result of the create action: One positive and one negative. At the same time! See screenshot (btw., in the snapshot, the group WAS created after all...)

So something is wrong in there...

Thanks

Hard-coded icons in js files
Some icons are hard-coded through javascript files. One example from lib/jquery_tiki/tiki-trackers.js line 139:
{CODE()}
$row.append($('<td class="action"/>').append($('<a href="#" class="text-danger"><span class="glyphicon glyphicon-remove"/></a>')
{CODE}

This line hard codes a glyphicon icon regardless of the iconset set by the admin. In php files this can be fixed by loading the smarty function icon but haven't been able to fix here (tried using ajax services).

Highlighting on tracker items seems broken
I currently keep track of bugs submitted by me by searching for my username. This results in a list of bugs, currently the first link looks like this:
http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_tracker_item.php?itemId=2561&highlight=tobi_h

Klicking that link gives an almost blank page, removing "&highlight=tobi_h" shows the page as it should.

Update: This only happens if I am logged in. More detail, thx to chibaguy: "...left and center columns are empty, and the right column is a column width off the page to the right."

This does not apply to wikipages, where highlighting works.

horizontal rule "- - -" does not work with more than three hyphens ("-")
When creating a horizontal rule previous version of Tiki wiki 2.x allow you to use multiple hyphens (>3).

~np~i.e. "---------------" in 2.x version would produce the same horizonttal rule as: "---"~/np~

~np~In 3.0 Beta 3 the only valid horizontal rule creator is three hyphens (---), not more than three hyphens.~/np~

HTTP headers incorrect
If you inspect the HTTP headers of a page generated by Tiki, it has an Expires header in the past:
-+Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT+-

Beside that, I also suggest to enable caching, at least in the Raw page display (tiki-index_raw.php?page=), it enables the browser to cache frequently used information by something like the AJAXLoad plugin and improves performance.
Now the Pragma header has:
-+Pragma: no-cache+-
And the cache-control header:
-+Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate+-

if 'Store atts in file gals' is on, when removing a wiki page, offer to remove the file gal also
If 'Store attachments in file galleries' is enabled (feature_use_fgal_for_wiki_attachments , in File Gallery admin panel: "Use file galleries for wiki attachments"), a new file gallery is created each time a new wiki page is created.

When you removing a wiki page, the file gallery (which may carry no files at all) is left in place. The user would expect to see an option to remove the file gallery of the attachments too, along with the remove wiki page confirmation step.

Like when attempting to remove a wiki page from a structure: remove wiki page from structure only, or remove wiki page itself also.

if tracker linked to a group, subscribe from Plugin SUBSCRIBEGROUP should go to insert tracker item
Imagine a site where users can register themselves,a nd select to be just simple registered users, or to join "Comission A" in adition.
Group "Registered" has tracker 1 linked to it, and set to request some fields from it at registration time.
Group "Comission A" has tracker 2 linked to it, and set to request some fields from it at registration time.

And imagine that we want to allow the users initially registered just to "Registered" group, can join themselves the group "Comission A" later on, if they wish. We could use the SUBSCRIBEGROUP plugin for that (nice plugin!)

However, when user clicks on the "subscribe" button, he/she is not requested to fill in the tracker item needed to join that group, but nothing else and sees the same wiki page instead.
For consistency, that user should be directed to the tracker item insertion for that tracker2, so that all users from that group have filled the required fields, agreements (on checkboxes), etc.

Illogical logic of topic activation
When you enable the article feature, and you create some article types and topics, you will eventually come across a listing of topics. Topics can be activated or inactivated.

But contrary to what could be perceived as being intuitive, topics start de-activated, signalled by the red oneway sign. And even more counter-intuitively, the option you get with the wrench symbol is to de-activate them (deactivate them again?), which is signalled by a green check logo.
See the screenshot.

This is beyond confusing :-)

Illogical pagination
If you take a close look at a long bug report like my "umbrella bug report", you'll see that it bears so many comments, their display gets paginated. That's a good idea. But one would expect that the first comment on page "2" is one following the last on page "1".

But that isn't the case... The last on page 1 is dated August 31st, the first on page 2 is from August 22, 2020...

And yes, I did reload the page to be sure that I do not see old data...

Illogical sorting of the Wishlist
If you click (two times...) in order to sort the Wishlist by modification date descending (btw., IMHO this should be the default...), the alleged latest edits are reported to be from Dec. 21. I have opened modified two other bug reports this year, and the list of recent changes shows them, but somehow they are not listed at the top of the Wishlist, at least not above Dec. 21 ?! See screenshot...

Image Galleries - Scroll Forward goes 2 pictures forward instead of going to the next picture
Browsing Images in an Gallery - scroll forward jumps over one picture and opens the second next.
Browsing Back an image works fine, just forward seems to act wrong.

See http://www.hmayer.net/tiki-browse_image.php?galleryId=360&sort_mode=name_asc&imageId=10044&scalesize=800

If i scroll forward it will open imageID=10046 - even while 10045 exists and is in line with the sort mode.

images uploaded to tracker field image do not respect multitiki paths
Images uploaded to tracker field image do not respect multitiki paths.

When you upload an image to this type of field, they go to

__img/trackers/__

When you are in a multitiki of, let's say, site1.example.com and site2.example.com, you have a folder for site1 at:

__img/trackers/site1.example.com/__

but your image files don't get uploaded there, but to the general

__img/trackers/__

And the same with all the other multitiki sites.
When you want to backup files, or migate a site to a new server, you are in trouble to know which files belong to which site from the multiki installation.

For consistency with how multitiki works, they should be uploaded to, and used from, the multitiki-aware path:

__img/trackers/site1.example.com/__

Zend2 missing "sslcafile" or "sslcapath" due to 'shoutbox to twitter': Unable to enable crypto on TCP connection api.twitter.com
I upgraded a site from 12.x to 15.1, and attempted to use the post to the shoutbox while also posting to twitter, and I got this error message shown in the module:
{CODE()}
Failed to execute "shoutbox" module

Unable to enable crypto on TCP connection api.twitter.com: make sure the "sslcafile" or "sslcapath" option are properly set for the environment.
{CODE}

I'll google for it, because I might be missing some system package for the communication (I upgraded to this current server after tiki12 was installed years ago, and didn't use the shoutbox + twitter for a looong while).

But in any case, some clear documentation of what packages are needed for the feature to work, and display that info also in the ((doc:Upgrade Wizard)) as well as in the doc ((doc:Tiki15)) page will be welcome.

Update: {sign user="xavi" datetime="2016-06-15T09:08:34+00:00"}
Ok, it seems the upgrade from Zend1 to Zend2 might have missed the definition of some new params needed by Twitter api which is used by the shoutbox feature in Tiki.

Improve tiki-check.php
In the "MySQL or MariaDB Database Properties" section, tiki-check.php appears to be agnostic about the setting of "Strict Mode" reporting the item in the "info" category.

Our experience has shown that how this value is set is very significant to TW and tiki-check should test this item and report as "good" or "ugly".

If Strict Mode reports "STRICT_TRANS_TABLES" then the tiki-check explanation is "MySQL is using strict mode."

However, in this situation tiki-stats.php fails reporting

Expression #2 of SELECT list is not in GROUP BY clause and contains nonaggregated column 'trp.tiki_pageviews.day'
which is not functionally dependent on columns in GROUP BY clause; this is incompatible with sql_mode=only_full_group_by
The query was:
SELECT SUM(`pageviews`) AS views, `day` AS unixtime FROM `tiki_pageviews` GROUP BY FROM_UNIXTIME(`day`, '%Y-%m-%d') ORDER BY views DESC LIMIT 1
The built query was likely:
SELECT SUM(`pageviews`) AS views, `day` AS unixtime FROM `tiki_pageviews` GROUP BY FROM_UNIXTIME(`day`, '%Y-%m-%d') ORDER BY views DESC LIMIT 1

If mysqld.cnf is updated to include sql-mode="NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION", then tiki-check shows "MySQL is not using strict mode." and tiki-stats runs without issue.

We have tested this on LTS15.5 but I note tickets 6303 reported by DNeukomm on TW16.x and 6453 reported by Bernard Sfez on TW17.x with what I suspect are related issues.
