ranklib->forums_ranking_last_topics() broken (forums_last_posts)
ranklib->forums_ranking_last_topics() was deprecated in favor of forums_ranking_last_posts($limit, true) The only problem being that forums_ranking_last_posts ignores its second argument. I guess mod-forums_last_posts's topics parameter is not working great. |

ranklib->forums_ranking_most_read_topics() ignores second argument (forumId). forums_most_read_topic
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"} forums_most_read_topics is declared as function forums_ranking_most_read_topics($limit, $forumId='') This was changed to function forums_ranking_most_read_topics($limit) in r20575. The second argument is now ignored. This obviously breaks callers using the second argument, such as mod-forums_most_read_topics when using the forumId parameter. Once this is fixed, mod-func-forums_most_read_topics.php should be fixed. |

ranklib->forums_ranking_top_topics, used in Best rated topics, returns incomplete names and no ids
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"} Since r20553, ranklib->forums_ranking_top_topics() returns incomplete names in ["data"]. The first part of the name should be the forum's name, but $res['name'] is null. So in Best rated topics module, instead of 1. Probo: Essai bug 2. Probo & Probi: Probo & topic 3. Probo: tes I'm getting just 1. : Essai bug 2. : Probo & topic 3. : tes |

Re: gets added to Forum Topic title, after a posting has NOT been submitted
When adding a post to the forum and do not select a smiley (which defaults to a required field - which I dont think is correct). This causes your post to rejected and redisplayed, with a red prompt by the smily field. The Title has Re: preappended when it should not. It is easy to miss when making the corection and re-submitting. |

reduce losts on forums posts and trackers due to session expired (similar solution as in wiki?)
Session expiration is producing some losts on forum posts (in a similar way it was happening on wiki edits...). That solution by ricks99 was very smart on wiki edits. Could it be added also (or similar behavior) to forum posts? --- update: Do the same on trackers!!! (show some popup if you are going to loose your session on that site) I had lost that information because I my session (apparently) expired... (maybe there was a conflict of cookies with the ones on other 1.9.9 tiki sites I was loging in and working in right now)... |

Replace "There are no comments at this time." in forums and comments
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"} What first caught my attention was this message in a forum thread: "There are no comments at this time." I assumed this means there are no ''replies'' at this time, but this could be confusing to new users - what is the difference between a comment and a reply? [https://matrix.to/#/!SLEgqpTNTlGYAhzNvK:gitter.im/$7GRemHDJXuNdyie5ox7Z06urEoEEqXHjZ2gww1CTZ94?via=gitter.im&via=matrix.org&via=coeus.ca|It was pointed out] that probably the same code is used for forums and comments like those at the bottom of wiki pages. I thought about some ways to either change the code to provide two different messages or change the alert message to cover both contexts. But then I thought what is the purpose of the alert message to begin with? It is already obvious that the forum post has no replies or the wiki page, etc. has no comments. So I propose replacing the message that states the obvious to a message that is positive and engaging, something like "Contribute your thoughts", "Add your thoughts", or "Share your thoughts" along with an appropriate icon. |

Reply button does not work in forums
As of 2009-10-19, if I open a forum and click on a posting, if I click on the Reply button, nothing happens. Last week, when I clicked on that button, I was getting some kind of MySQL error message. But now, it simply does nothing. Note that if instead of clicking on the REply button, I scroll down to the "Post new message" section (which contains a copy of the current post with a > in front of each line), I can write an answer, and click on Post and it works. But I should be able to click on Reply. |

Search: when finding in a forum post, there must be a way to see full thread
As explained here: http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?topics_offset=239&topics_sort_mode=lastPost_desc&forumId=4&comments_parentId=21807 A related item: When in a forum thread for example: http://themes.tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=106&topics_threshold=0&topics_offset=11&topics_sort_mode=commentDate_desc&topics_find=&forumId=2 When I click on the "top" link, I am always sent to comments_parentId=0 (which is never good) |

Searching and Forums, add and improve searching tools in forums
Actually on Tiki forums, https://tiki.org/forums, there is a "simple" search field on the main page. Initiating a search open https://tiki.org/tiki-searchindex.php (out of forums area) I can see 1289 pages of results and it look like forum posts (I didn't;t check all pages ;-) ). The first page of results displayed posts from the mailing list archive (forum26). You can then use facets to try to narrow search results. But the filters were though for a general use (Object Type, Language, Federated Search, Category Tree, Categories, Letter, First word) and are bad for searching posts in forum... I don't see a case I would use any of them.? With 1289 pages of results that just awful. --- If you go in a forum like : https://tiki.org/forum26 You have also a "simple" search field. Again you are redirected to https://tiki.org/tiki-searchindex.php but then it displays any objects found (not only posts). This is bad too. If I'm in a section or an area like a forum and initiate a search I should see results from this area. Again filters are not relevant. --- If I go in a thread then I don't have any search tools but seems ok to me. https://tiki.org/forumthread77942-Composer-allowed-plugin-list |

separate permission to create forums
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"} For some situations it would be extremely useful to be able to set a separate permission to allow a Group to create a new Forum. This would then avoid having to give the Group the full tiki_p_admin_forum permission, which then also allows users in this Group to set Permissions. Whilst the full Permission functionality is extraordinarily flexible and feature rich, it can also be quite confusing for a less experienced user and the use of Categories (ie using pre-packaged sets of permissions) is a much easier function which obviously should still be allowed from the Create New Forum screen. This is still a valid feature request - so I've refreshed it (Aug 2013) - but its not a particularly high priority |

Sort forums arbitrarily
As detailed in Support Forums ( https://tiki.org/forumthread68978-Can-I-reorder-the-forums ) the current Forum structure, while allowing to sort by most recent, alphabetic, etc. does not have the ability to sort individual forums arbitrarily. Depending on the forum type, you want to have the forum owner to be able to sort by forum's importance. This may differ from most recent, alphabetic, etc., and may have to be set arbitrarily (e.g. by assigning a forum number to each forum, which is generally not visible in the Forum view but provides the sorting order). This has been discussed with Marc Laporte and work should begin shortly. |

Sorting by points in forum threads produces mysql error
When clicking at "points" in the forum thread list, a mysql error is produced. This worked in old versions (Tiki3, at least), and fails in Tiki9 also. Synchronize Forum and external Mailinglist (Mailman)
Synchronize a Tiki Forum with a (Mailman) Mailinglist a) Forum outbound email (Regression) In Tiki 11 it was observed that Tiki cannot send emails out from a forum post to a mailinglist. This problem might be produced by Zend/composer. This is a regression. It works in Tiki9.5 (not clear about Tiki10). More Info: https://dev.tiki.org/Regressions+in+11x https://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=47927 b) Forum inbound email (Error) In Tiki 9.5 it was observed that postings from a mailinglist are shown in Forum with wrong author sometimes. Users of Forum and Mailinglist are not necessarily identical. Some users are registered at forum and mailinglist, and they are recognized by Tiki via email address correctly. Every now and then (no clear pattern yet) an inbound email from mailinglist is registered in the forum with wrong username and wrong email, apparently random chosen by someone else who wrote earlier to the list and was listed in the forum with his post. In addition Tiki Forum breaks threading if the email topic is changed. This might be intentional and due to lack of internal handling of emails' Message-Id header. c) Tiki Forum header (Wishlist) Tiki recognizes whether an inbound email was sent by forum or not. This is done by a header. This header should be up to configuration, because it is not possible to connect two different Tiki forums with one mailinglist. d) Demo and Showcase Unfortunately it is not possible to construct a showcase easily, because the setup of Tiki plus Mailman is quite complex (spam protection would require an isolated setup which cannot spam real world) and the pattern seems to be dependent on race conditions. |

Tablesorter filter is conflicting with forums list and the subforums list
On a Tiki forum when it is enable Tablesorter is added to the table that list the forum to allow filtering and sorting. Work fine if you have only Forums. When you use subforum discussions the table sorter is interfering as it is working on the subform list instead of continuing to filter/sort the discussion below. The tablesorter filter row is placed above the subforums list instead of the discussion list it should be moved below to be applied on the discussions. |

The field with the smilies does not appear in places where they should be available
In certain instances when editing a page through the text editor (or creating a new blog post), with the wysiwyg-available available (though hidden) the smilies field is not displayed. The problem is probably due to the fact that the variable $wysiwyg contains an 'n' if the editor is hidden while in some instances the value is NULL. This is probably because if the wysiwyg feature in admin-features is disabled then the $wysiwyg value is NULL, but if it is enabled but hidden the value is 'n'. There is a conditional in templates/tiki-editpage.tpl that does not take this into account. (The problem may be present in other versions as well) |

Other threads in that forum work though: https://tiki.org/forumthread68695-Email-configuration-woes So it must be that post specific thing? |

add a label like [forum name XXX] in each email from monitorized forum post or thread....
Forums are getting powerful enough to substitute mailing lists on many tiki sites (yahhogroups, etc.). However, notification messages from forums cannot be added easily to local email filters since the subject doesn't contain a label like [[Forum X - site Y] to ease this task. {CODE()} [Forum X - site Y] {CODE} I guess this must be very easy for a coder (just adding some variable to a smarty template? and adding a call to that variable if needed from the related .php or .tpl file - I just get the rough idea... I wish I could do that myself...) |
