Hm, I seem unable to recreate the bug, as I cannot activate image galleries in the created instance. There is a setting "default gallery", but that simply states "no image gallery exists. Create one first". The feature seems disabled and I do not see a mechanism to enable it...
    Thanks

Image Galleries feature is deprecated feature. Please use File Galleries instead with "Browse" mode to display the image thumbnails by default. We will delete this comment later to keep things tidy as it does not relate to the commented page. Thanks for your understanding.

I will be happy to use file galleries, when they will regain the feature to display thumbnails. On my old Altair installation they do, my current Alcyon does not, and I find no setting to enable them.

Just out of curiosity: Why does a comment on image galleries not relate to the Wish page "Image galleries cannot be deleted?"

Image galleries may be deprecated, but they are still in there, and then, in my opinion, they should work, and they don't (cannot delete them).

How is a "browse mode" enabled? I use the German localization, and there file galleries only have the default views "Liste" (list), "Durchsuchen" (Search) and "Seite", which would translate back to page. And this mode fatally fails throwing these error messages:

Tried, but could not replicate this fail on the instance. I did set to to timezone Europe/Berlin and Date string to %A, %e. %B %Y, but 'page' works. Interestingly, there I see three possible default views. Search is not among them (?), but 'page' is and so is 'browse'. Browse lacks on my Alcyon, and page fails for reasons unknown.

Not that would be really be unrelated to the Wish page, but I took the opportunity to testdrive on a brand new Alcyon, SCNR. So far did not make another snapshot.

On Tiki 18.x go to tiki-admin.php?page=fgal&cookietab=3 and under "Default view" choose "Browse".
Per file gallery you can switch it by tiki-list_file_gallery.php?view=browse&galleryId=1.

There is no 'browse'. And 'page' fails. Is 'browse' only available after it is activated somewhere else? Could not be a permission problem, since I'm admin. I prepared a screenshot for you, if I can upload it somewhere.
Sorry for posting the comment under the Wiki page, not my wish, I did not recognize that mistake. Can it be moved to the correct location?

Okay, I could force it into enabling image gallery, by manipulating to URL to point to tiki-admin.php?page=gal.
This could be seen as another bug: Image galleries are still there (although they are deprecated), but the icon is missing on the admin panel as long as the feature is not enabled, but to enable it, you need to call this panel! Also, I believe the control to activate image galleries belongs in Features.

Recreated the bug, now I make a snapshot. Thanks

I believe you don't have the preferences filter "Deprecated" enabled in the filter dropdown on the Admin Control panels so you do not see the deprecated features and preferences.
