13.x on *.tiki.org: Menus with section level 0 are no longer clickable if sub-menus exist
This is perhaps by design because of the move to Bootstrap.

For new sites, the UI should prevent / warn.

For upgrades, there should be some documentation on https://doc.tiki.org/Tiki13, and ideally, this be dealt with in the upgrade script.

Similarly, there could be an issue with level 2/3/4 menus...

13.x: doc.t.o menu 43 (public info for anons) doesn't show 'section level 1' records, but only section level 0 and options
This means that almost all "New in version X" are not shown in the menu.

Instead of manually doing some workaround, I think this is a good dogfood case for fixing the root issue (whichever it is).

icon for home menu entry in the cloned menu 43, is home48x48, but no image is shown.
In 12.x, this works as expected, and that image is shown.

Fix for Bug Ticket ID 2184
I have confirmed this bug (2184) in Tiki 6.3 using Chrome and IE7/8.

I am not a javascript guru so this may not be the most eloquent solution, but it works.

To fix, replace the icntoggle function (line 693) in tiki-js.js with the following:

Ability to use a structure as a menu {menu structureId=1}
I can't see the reason for the separation between the structures feature and the menu feature - structures are massively easier to create and edit, but only menus can be shown collapsibly. Separation of functions leads to confusion and harder support.

Admin links gone....can't access admin
I upgraded from 1.85 to 1.9.0 without any problems. Things were working fine. Today, however, I logged in to access the admin area, and no admin links from the menu! All gone! What do I need to do to fix this? How can I access the admin area without links?

Admin, Menus Feature - Cannot add new menu problem
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"}
Admin, Menus Feature

When I try and add a new menu I receive the following error:

An error occurred in a database query!

Message:
Unknown column 'icon' in 'field list'

This is see is a new field in 2.0. I then tried entering the folder information to the icons but the new menu will still not save.

All System Menu dropdown items should have an icon if one does
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"}
If Tiki is going to have System Menu item icons by default in new installations, probably all menu items should have one. Why only "Categories" in the system menu dropdown?

The same items in the admin pages aside menu have icons, so it should be just a matter of adding them to the system menu. Note: be sure these are added in a vendor-neutral way so that if the admin switches from Font Awesome to Bootstrap icons (or another icon set), they will still display.

Behavior and appearance of 'Manage' section of UAB left-column menu could be improved
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"}
When the user navigates to a page in the "Global Settings" section of the left column of the Unified Admin Backend layout, that section of the menu stays open and the current name of the active page is highlighted. But when the user navigates to a page in the "Manage" section, the section closes and the current page isn't highlighted. This isn't good UX practice and should be improved, if possible.

Can't switch order of menu options
At https://nextdev.tiki.org/tiki-admin_menu_options.php?menuId=47
I can't change the ordering of the menu options by ''drag and drop''. They just stay at the original place after mouse up.

Moving them as sub options by moving them to the right also gives weird results. They do move but not at the appropriate place.

Cannot access popup menus in some themes
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"}
This is about the popup menus in the top part of the page and applies to several of the default themes in version 6.

In many of the themes, there seems to be a gap between the menu heading and the popup such that when the mouse is moved down to access a popup menu, the menu disappears, making it nearly impossible to access!

A theme example is Arcturus - Amette, but that is not the only one, no the worst.

This happens on both Safari and OmniWeb.

It is actually possible to access the popup with some practise. There seems to be some flag toggling going on as well because it can be made easier if the popping up is reset in some way.

Categories displayed in a category module or a plugin List in a menu is adding a lot of empty lines and empty spans
You can use a category module or a plugin List in a Tiki menu to display a list of items (link to a category page) for each sub category.

For exemple:
{CODE()}
{module module="categories" nobox="y" decoration="0" type="trackerItem" selflink="y" hideEmpty="y" onlyChildren="y" categId="23"}
{CODE}

{CODE()}
{LIST(searchable_only="0")}
{list max="500"}
{filter deepcategories="1"}
{filter type=category}
{LIST}
{CODE}

However this adds a bunch of empty link that push down the menu items:
{img fileId="1495" thumb="box"}

It also add an empty span for each items after the first child:
{img fileId="1496" thumb="box"}

Category permission check for wiki page menu option not working in some cases
Wiki pages links are case insensitive but the category permission check for wiki pages menu entry only works if the case of the link matches the case of the wiki page name.

Say you have a wiki page called "Foo" and the "Registered" group has view permission to this page granted by a category. If you create a menu entry linking to the "Foo" page and set the URL as "((Foo))" everything will work as expected. But if you set the URL as "((foo))" the menu option will not appear to the users of the "Registered" group. Obviously for this to happen the "Registered" group must not have global tiki_p_view.

This does not happen if object permissions, instead of category permissions, grant access to the "Foo" page.

Consolidate menu types for simplification in code and for users
Consolidate menu types as just Bootstrap menus. That is, remove suckerfish and legacy - neither Bootstrap nor suckerfish - menus. Then add Smartmenus ([https://www.smartmenus.org/]) to enhance/extend Bootstrap menus to regain features lost by the removal of suckerfish menus.

UPDATE: Smartmenus feature has been added to branch 19 and trunk and will be configured and bug-fixed hopefully before the release of Tiki 19, or soon thereafter. The feature is optional of course and is marked as experimental for now.

TODO: resolve any issues in Smartmenus integration in Tiki. Longer term, evaluate removing CSS menus (suckerfish/superfish menus) when it's determined that Smartmenus makes them redundant.

Impossible to create menus
When you create a new menu in the admin panel for that (tiki-admin_menus.php) you see the predefined application menu (with ID 42), a popup comes that asks some basics like menu title, description, style etc. When you enter that and click the create button - nothing happens. I would expect the list of menu to contain then two menus, the preexisting application menu and the newly created one. But still, only the prexisting menu is displayed. And no error message...

So it is impossible to create new menus...
