Add fields to directory
I would love if the Directory feature allowed one to enter an address. If using the directory feature for resources, this would then allow one to search for "local" resources based upon the address. e.g. Within 5 miles, 10 miles, 25 miles, etc. |

Allow each directory item to have a unique image (screenshot or thumbnail)
When adding a new item to the directory, it would be great if I could upload an image for the link. |

Check & report broken links
*.Tiki.org sites have a large number of external links. It would be nice to have a tool to check all the links and to report on status. Possibly this could be related to the cacheing feature. See: ((Link Checker)) |

Country field in Directory Site Admin interface unsorted
When adding or editing sites through the Directory Site Admin interface (tiki-directory_admin_sites.php), the "Country" field is not sorted (on my install, it starts with "Sudan", ends with "Niger" and goes all over the place inbetween). Linked to BWL#4954 as the issue is similar (although that one relates to a different interface, and has since been fixed and closed). --- __Edit 2015-11-22:__ No demonstration at this time due to [https://dev.tiki.org/item5768|BWL#5768]; pending that, it should be confirmable through any 14.x install with the Directory feature enabled, a user logged in that has Directory Admin privileges, and navigating to the __tiki-directory_admin_sites.php__ page. --- __Edit 2015-11-23:__ As BWL#5768 is now closed, I have been able to demonstrate this on show.t.o. Just using the 'admin' user is fine to test, per the note above. On this instance, the "Country" field starts with "Finland" and ends with "Malawi" in the Directory Site Admin interface. --- __Edit 2015-11-30:__ Am attempting to test a possible fix (courtesy __lindon__) using a trunk instance on show.t.o; the instance may be destroyed and re-created a few times until I get one that works. --- __Edit 2015-12-15:__ Have a successfully set up v14.2svn instance on show.t.o. The bug persists in this instance. |

DIrectory - allow URI File:/// - do not default to http://
I want to use a personal WiKi for all information about a personal project. It would be convenient to have links to local or network hard disc files in the Directory. There are other URIs (https://) that would also be useful so the limit to http:// is unhelpful. |

Directory-->Categories: Checkbox
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"} When one adds a site to the Directory, the Directory categories are contained within a multi-select drop-down list. One has to use a keyboard and hold-down the control key for multiple selections. When adding a non-directory entity (e.g. articles) the categories are presented as checkboxes. I think it should be checkboxes here as well. |

Directory: Illogical sorting of countries
When you create a directory (of hyperlinks) you can add links. For each link, you can state from which country the link came. But... This list is sorted by the English original country names and NOT by their translation, so they come (dependent on the language) in ''complete'' disorder... |

However, it comes up with 0 results found because there are no tags associated with any sites. Either this is a bug or I am missing something. |

Link directory: Total number of visits never gets updated
The link directory keeps track on how often each links gets a click, is visited. When you browse the directory, a total number of visits is stated. This number stays at 0 forever, despite many visits on different links. At the link, the visit gets counted, but the total is never updated. |

Major layout problems on the browse directory page
{syntax type="tiki" editor="plain"} The directory feature isn't maintained much because web directories are mostly a thing of the past, but as long as it's still in Tiki, probably its pages shouldn't have broken layout. The page is tiki-directory_browse.php and the file is tiki-directory_browse.tpl. Mostly it's the "find" form layout that needs updating to be similar to other find forms in Tiki. Other details could be improved. For example the breadcrumbs element doesn't seem to use the breadcrumbs preference for link divider. And in general the page layout could be nicer. |

Reactivate tikiwiki.org's directory while keeping list of sites out of reach.
Tiki directory was closed down from anonymous viewing for security reasons. This section should stay restricted: http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-directory_browse.php?parent=2 But the rest of the directory can be available. How can we do this via permissions or category permissions? |

Replace _blank (links opening a new window) by a XHTML alternative
There are several places in Tiki code where target="_blank" is used. "Much to the chagrin of Web designers everywhere, the HTML 4.0 Strict and XHTML 1.0 Strict recommendations of the W3C no longer include the target attribute of the <a> tag. The Transitional versions of the specifications still include it, but by definition, these specs are on the way out. Whatever your personal feelings on the practice, the most common application for this attribute -- opening a link in a new browser window with target="_blank" -- is still useful on today's Internet. So if the standards say we shouldn't use it, how should we go about creating new-window links, while following the latest Web standards?" http://www.sitepoint.com/article/standards-compliant-world |

tiki-directory_validate.php - deleting of multiple sites does not work
In Directory, when you go to validate sites and check sites for deleting, the sites were not deleted after submitting the form. I'm not sure, if the bug is in tiki-directory_validate.tpl or in it's php or lib files. |

When editing a link directory category, group assignment is lost
When you edit a category in the link directory (btw. IMHO this should be renamed, as "category" is a term used in other locations! IMHO these are folders, that is the term most commonly used, if "directory", the pre-GUI term, must be avoided) then the assigned group for that category is lost and must be manually re-established. |

when trying to add a duplicate URL to the directory, it is not handled nicely
When adding an URL that is already present in the Directory (not even just in the category), you get a message: "URL already added to the directory. Duplicate site?" - and aren't even allowed to duplicate the site.. |
