Fix for Bug Ticket ID 2184
I have confirmed this bug (2184) in Tiki 6.3 using Chrome and IE7/8. I am not a javascript guru so this may not be the most eloquent solution, but it works. To fix, replace the icntoggle function (line 693) in tiki-js.js with the following: |

Ability to use a structure as a menu {menu structureId=1}
I can't see the reason for the separation between the structures feature and the menu feature - structures are massively easier to create and edit, but only menus can be shown collapsibly. Separation of functions leads to confusion and harder support. |

Cannot access popup menus in some themes
This is about the popup menus in the top part of the page and applies to several of the default themes in version 6. In many of the themes, there seems to be a gap between the menu heading and the popup such that when the mouse is moved down to access a popup menu, the menu disappears, making it nearly impossible to access! A theme example is Arcturus - Amette, but that is not the only one, no the worst. This happens on both Safari and OmniWeb. It is actually possible to access the popup with some practise. There seems to be some flag toggling going on as well because it can be made easier if the popping up is reset in some way. Karl |

Category permission check for wiki page menu option not working in some cases
Wiki pages links are case insensitive but the category permission check for wiki pages menu entry only works if the case of the link matches the case of the wiki page name. Say you have a wiki page called "Foo" and the "Registered" group has view permission to this page granted by a category. If you create a menu entry linking to the "Foo" page and set the URL as "((Foo))" everything will work as expected. But if you set the URL as "((foo))" the menu option will not appear to the users of the "Registered" group. Obviously for this to happen the "Registered" group must not have global tiki_p_view. This does not happen if object permissions, instead of category permissions, grant access to the "Foo" page. |

feature_redirect_on_error (in tiki-admin.php?page=features) doesn't seem to do anything
If the page I am looking for doesn't exist, Tiki will send to a similar page (if only one) or to the list of pages (if many) This is interesting. However, I may not want this behavior if I am building my wiki pages from the menu 1- create menu and 2 click on it to create page and thus testing the link. This new feature (which wasn't there before) creates a new behavior that maybe should be the default. But it should be possible to turn it off. AFAICT, feature_redirect_on_error (in tiki-admin.php?page=features) doesn't seem to do anything in 1.9 or 1.10 Redirect on error seems to always be on. |

But I cannot get the item to be visible either for anonymous or registered users (only admin) so that anyone can get to the articles section, which I want to be a news section. I have looked into a theme problem (same issue with any of a dozen themes) I'm using a variant of absE. I have tried plain menus {menu id=45} and the three variations on the PHPLayers (fixed, etc.) I have tried a simple flat arrangement (all section0). I have tried attaching a public category to all menu items. I have spend this weekend chasing around for a solution but I haven't found one. I would prefer to link to the FAQs module instead of building Wiki pages, but I couldn't get that to work either. Thanks db |

menu in tiki-top_bar.tpl with no displayable options (user permissions won't allow) halts tiki.
When "site menu bar" is selected under "site identity features", and a menu is specified in the "tiki-top_bar.tpl" file, as below: {if $feature_phplayers eq 'y' and $feature_siteidentity eq 'y' and $feature_sitemenu eq 'y'} <br><br> {phplayers id=44 type=horiz} {/if} If the menu does not have any options that are permitted by the current user (no sections to display - prior to loggin in to site, for example), the system crashes because of an empty string. To recover it is necessary to manually edit the tiki database to add a menu section that has no permission requirements. In the example above, menu id 44 has no sections or options that are viewable by unregistered users. When the site is entered, tiki halts because of an empty string, apparently because there is no menu selection possible for the user (not logged in yet.) |

Since some weeks ago, afaik (April 2008, or so), menus and menu options cannot be seen for anonymous on several sites that I admin, including edu.tikiwiki.org, if you select some themes. Right now I've just assigned thatmodule to admins only, and used menupage module, which works fine. But I can re-set the previous config. is somebody wants to reproduce the missworking. |

More intuitive admin interface
Part of IRC-Log from 20050709: [18:48:51] luci amette: imho the quickest fix for the Admin menu would be: 1. rename "Admin home" to "Admin Sections" [18:49:40] luci amette: 2. clicking Admin folder would bring you list with the same entries like when you expand the folder [18:50:53] luci 3. rename "Admin mods" entry to "Mods Admin" to prevent listing it as first entry since the menu is alphabetically sorted [18:50:57] amette luci : Yup, that sounds really clean - Admin Home should be moved to the top of the submenu then though [18:51:08] luci sure [18:51:36] amette Ah, just wanted to ask - yeah, alphabetical sort is bad here - I just looked at my menu and it took some time to find "Verwaltung Hauptseite" <- very much at the bottom [18:52:12] luci "Admin Sections" sounds logical to me because we use "Sections" in title bar there already anyway [18:52:41] luci amette: good point, that'Ä‘ why i fixed my language.php entry to "Administrace" [18:55:06] luci ok, we can consider removing that sorting stuff [18:55:42] amette What would be a good solution imho - It gives you e.g. the option to say "The third entry in Admin menu" [18:55:52] luci maybe only the module one [18:55:56] amette And you can sort options by importance! [18:56:14] amette And I'm often confused, since my admin-account uses English and amette-account uses german [18:56:20] luci amette: not that easy, some appear depending on fetures enabled From here on, was discussed, that Admin Items could/should be hidden, when the corresponding feature is not activated. I'm not too sure about that now - because like that you loose the ability to customize a feature and then afterwards activate/release it. |

I created one menu with multiple sub-items. I then applied it to user module, e.g. {phplayers id=44 type=vert} And displayed it on the right column. All good so far. But when I added another menu with PHPlayers, e.g. {phplayers id=45 type=vert} then the first menu no longer showed the roll-over menus in the proper place, nor did they disapear after exit. |

phplayers horiz menu breaks overlib popups like userlink
When you rollover any of the phplayers horiz menu, causing the menu to popup, and then subsequently try to use an overlib, e.g. the userlink popup that appears when you rollover the name of a user, the overlib will fail with javascript error "windowWidth is not a function". The reason is because phplayers layersmenu.js (or if you have copied its contents into another file like layersmeny-header.ijs) defines windowWidth as it works, destroying the overlib function. |

Suckerfish/superfish menu flickering in IE6
Suckerfish menu dropdown items flicker in IE6 (rapidly switch between being displayed and background showing), apparently due to a javascript conflict. This happens whether or not jquery (w/ or w/o superfish) is activated. This type of menu works fine in IE6 normally (such as at the Superfish demo site), so there seems to be a conflict with something in Tiki. A Google search turned up similar problems in Joomla and Drupal, and was caused there by some conflict with some the javascript used by some module or other. I tested CSS variations, to rule out the possibility of CSS being the cause - no change made a difference. Assuming Tiki will move from php layers menus to suckerfish menus, and there will still be a significant number of IE6 users, this should be solved as soon as possible. |

Theme and Tools for MediaWiki migration
Maybe some of you will think of this as a "marketinhg" thing, but let's face it : for most users on the Web "wiki" is synonym with "MediaWiki-powered sites that look like wikipedia". What I propose is to create the theme and tools to facilitate migration of mediawiki powered sites to tikiwiki the (very) easy way : fill a form during install that points to the Mediawiki database, and extract all the info to automagically populate the Tiki. I'm willing to participate, but I do not feel I have the required knowledge at this moment to be able to do something useful in the coding part : I know little to no PHP or MySQL stuff, I even wasn't able to install Tiki properly here (shame on me). |

User modules don't display menus
I upgraded a TW 1.9.1 installation to 2.3 (I did an upgrade from 1.9.1 to 1.9.11 first, and then immediately did the upgrade to 2.3). After the upgrade completed successfully, I noticed that the user modules I had were empty. I could see the title and the box, but no content (which were user menus). To make a long story short, I found that the problem was the templates/tiki-user_menu.tpl template was not rendering anything. I noticed that there was also a tiki-usermenu.tpl template that rendered a list of menus for the admin pages. I tried renaming the tiki-user_menu.tpl file to tiki-user_menu2.tpl and changing line 34 of the lib/smarty_tiki/function.menu.php file to: $tpl = 'tiki-user_menu2.tpl'; That fixed the problem. Maybe there's some sort of name collision with tiki-usermenu.tpl when Smarty tries rendering tiki-user_menu.tpl. I didn't see any PHP errors when it wasn't working. Yes, I did try clearing TikiWiki's caches and the browser's cache and it didn't work. |
