When login fails, I should get an error message.

((GroupMail)) is not working for me any more since I updated a site to 6.x from 4.x
In 4.x it was working me (I created most of the documentation in doc:((doc:Groupmail))

Maybe that's because Webmail is not working either...?

What I did:
* installed a new tiki proposals/6x tiki site in localhost
* added ajax_xajax feature to the groupmail profile (it was missing)
* applied Groupmail profile
* followed instructions to setup a new group (web)mail account
* the module groupmail is spinning all the time, and no messages are shown
* I've double checked that the user and pass info for that email account are all right

I also applied that profile on a remote server (a production site) and no luck either. No email is fetched.
I checked the webemail account (by means of other webmail software) and I confirm that it has plenty of read email, and 2 new messages pending to be read.

Update:
Weird, after I tried to unsuccessfully delete that account in the remote (production) server, it seems that webmail started to work!

:-/ Well, it looks boggy to me, or at least, for sure it's been unrealiable behavior!

At elast, for sure tehre is a bug at removing a webmail account: which is not removed (even if you ckick again at the confirmation step, the account is still there)

I received this error "cannot connect to host; error = php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known (errno = 0 ) " after email account configuration on 1&1 webhoster

Sometimes, wehn sending a braodcast message to a given group, the message body is empty.

It is empty for the recipients, but also in the sent box of the sender.

No error message is issued, en the message is delivered with the correct sender, the correct subject, but a totally empty body.

The lib/webmail/pop3.php library is GPL'ed. Should replace with an LGPL library like [http://pear.php.net/package/Net_POP3|Net_POP3] or [http://pear.php.net/package/Net_IMAP|Net_IMAP]

This happens when sending email. I can receive though.

Same config on a different server worked.

Project to perform many of the functions of CRM using as many existing Tiki features as possible (dev notes).

Emails containing inline images fail to present when selected from the email inbox list. This is a problem for both jpg and png images. It does not seem to be relevant as to where the image appears in the email. I have tried with the image in the middle of the text as if the image has been sent as part of the content and at the very end as if a signature block with exactly the same result.

I rated this as a 7 as it makes the webmail feature unusable to the users of the [http://sistersafar.com|site] in question. This in turn makes the site itself, being designed to keep distant family members in touch with each other and friends, pretty much ineffective for the target audience. It does not however technically render anything but one site feature unusable so a rating higher than 7 does not feel justified.

Many ISP's have separated pop/imap and smtp accounts. Or just they require SMTP auth when sending email outside ISP networks.

Just to be sure :
User may have separated incoming(pop3/imap) and outgoing(smtp) accounts
or
User may have one account for incoming&outgoing (pop3/imap/smtp)

Both cases should be supported and with ssl support.

Current (v9.1) webmail implementation does not allow separated pop/imap and smtp account settings. Also SMTP is missing ssl possibility.

So in these cases webmail is unusable.

Hi:

I want to allow users to send photo moblog posts to our Articles section. After setting up an "Article-Put" account, I'm finding that only the text makes it into the article post, not the attached image file. Just to test, I set up a "Wiki-Put" account, and it DOES recognize and include the attachment (not inline, though, but as an icon and a link).

Does the Article-Put feature have handling for including images inline?

The following bug was registered with the PEAR bugtracking system (at http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=13748) ; we believe the issue to be more related to missing error checks in tikiwiki than with Net_POP3. If somebody could look into this from the tikiwiki side of things it'd be much appreciated.

The Tikiwiki groupware comes with version 1.1.2.5 of the net_pop3
package. Whenever I want to collect mail with pop3, I get the message
"Catchable fatal error: Object of class PEAR_Error could not be
converted to string in
/home/vicfont/public_html/forum/lib/webmail/net_pop3.php on line 909".

I investigated a bit and found that file net_pop3.php actually
corresponds to this package POP3.php. So my guess was to exchange the
file for the new version 1.3.6 - but still the same problem occurs (now
on line 897 though...)

I now believe that this is a bug in the PEAR package, which somehow
must dpend on the PHP configuration, as there are thousands of Tikiwiki
installations running with no problems...

Please help me with this. And feel free to get in touch if you need to
know anything about my PHP installation or configuration.

Hi there everyone, newbie calling.

I work in a technical operations area. Currently developing the wiki as a wiki for operational staff across various areas but thought I would use some more of the functions that are available.

As an operations area there is a requirement for logs to be written daily by operation staff across different departments and to be e-mailed to management staff.

My idea is to give each department (5 in total) a separate blog. Only members of each department can write to their blog but any member of each department can read the other blogs. So far so good. By tagging each entry searches across blogs can identify faults across departments. This works perfectly and therefore preferable to a forum based solution as I need it to be as simple as possible for the operational staff.

However there is a requirement to print each log on a daily basis and ideally e-mail it to non-members (managers) possibily dependent upon tags. Obviously it is simple to print each separate entry but what I am looking for is a way of printing a 24 hour period of blog entries, or exporting them to a text file (word or e-mail body for example) to be distributed and printed. This is because there can be as many as 100 blog entries per day and it would be time consuming (and forest destroying) to print each one out individually.

Apologies if this is covered in a document that I have missed but I am still trying to absorb all the variables. I have also posted it in the forums to see if someone has any ideas with existing features or indeed using it in this way.

Using the tiki-mailin feature (for Wiki-Put or Article-Put), I consistently see right after the body tag, a PHP message showing me the array being populated. This happens whether or not there's an error in the posting itself.

Can someone explain why this is happening?

The ((doc:Inter-User Messages)) system is quite nice.

However, it means:
1- That users have duplicate mailboxes
2- And the recipient can't just click reply

On dev.tikiwiki.org, this is not so nice because people already have an internal tiki mailbox on tikiwiki.org

So, let's think about an additional/modified feature called "direct message" or "direct mail".

This would simulate a regular email. (let's plan ahead that this should be able to send other types of messages (jabber, sms, etc.)

The headers could be:
"from" is Full Name ({$Username}) {senderemail}
"to" is Full Name ({$Username}) {recipientemail}
"bcc" to {senderemail} (So we have a trace of what we sent)

In case some spammers get a hold of it, let's have something like this at the bottom:
This message was sent via {$name of site}


Not sure if this should be done with the ((doc:webmail)) feature, or maybe as an option of ((doc:Inter-User Messages))

A lot of people who install this aren't doing it via Fantastico and trying to change email settings to suit your hosting provider is a pain. Editing the php.ini isn't always wise either because what works for one app will break another. I know that you can copy the php.ini to the directory, but that's something of a security risk. There's a reason that the default php.ini is stored outside the web root directory.

I know that I see a lot of users posting on the TikiWiki forums with questions about configuring SMTP.

Since stalation I do not succeed to make TW to send e-mails.

When I try to configure e-mail for sending configuration.

Tiki newsletter works well for small volumes.

But for large volumes, as with any web app, sending emails from a server can be a challenge. Risk of being flagged as spammer, high server load/difficult to throttle, limits from your web hosts (ex.: max x emails per hour), etc

A helpful alternative would be something like this:

So my Thunderbird client or desktop newsletter application (ex.: [http://gammadyne.com/mmail.htm|Gammadybe Mailer]) should be able to access the TikiWiki database to generate recipient list.

When viewing a message and then clicking on "full headers", Tiki dies with the following error:

An error occurred while loading /tiki-webmail.php?locSection=read&msgid=1&fullheaders=1:
Connection to host localhost is broken.

This might be related to tw#355 - mail headers not being standard conformant and having "Message-Id" instead of "Message-ID" - not sure though.

I setup a webmail account and viewed mail box in tiki webmail. after that I sent two mails from another account with different subject and body. I viewed both of them in mail box and clicked one of them. after going back to mail box both mails was marked as read! so I selected witch I haven't read and marked it as unread, but both of them was marked as unread!

The webmail currently only supports POP. IMAP support like IMP, Squirrelmail, Roundcube, etc would be much better. It could rely on PHP's imap support like IMP does. People who will want IMAP would have to have it in their PHP, which is in an acceptable requirement.
