Import Translations from other Projects

Tiki has many translations: http://i18n.tiki.org/Status but some are missing quite a few strings.

We already leverage lots of code from the Open Source community. So why not also get translations? Let's get all the translations from appropriately licensed projects and add those to our DB, instead of unstranslated strings. This should cover common strings like "login", "OK", etc. and give a better first impression to new users. Keeping this in sync would be more work, but a one-time operation will significantly increase our coverage.

Questions

  • Are the similar projects we can leverage? (ex.: translation memories of open source projects
  • Is there a way where/how we share back our translations?
  • What are the appropriate licenses for translations? (ex.: can we use GPL?)

Keywords

The following is a list of keywords that should serve as hubs for navigation within the Tiki development and should correspond to documentation keywords.

Each feature in Tiki has a wiki page which regroups all the bugs, requests for enhancements, etc. It is somewhat a form of wiki-based project management. You can also express your interest in a feature by adding it to your profile. You can also try out the Dynamic filter.
