Default Preferences to be changed

Below should be all coordination work to change Default settings of the standard profile. Please also add your Profile Ideas.

Here are changes proposed to the default installation profiles. Discussing this in a Wiki page can keep track of all complaints we receive and point to what really needs to be changed.

WhereSettingProposed changeDiscussion
Parser feature_wiki_paragraph_formatting should it be y? not a proposal, just a question
Wiki wiki_badchar_prevent y because it causes issues with Short URLs
Admin GeneralDisplay menus as foldersEnableMost problematic setting yet. I myself spent about an hour as Tiki admin not able to create much. I think the majority of new admins do the same, although recently it even led to the creation of an Assistant module. mose says historical reasons explain the current setting. Shouldn't we change it anyway? Chealer9
ricks99 thinks that showing the folders is much more intuitive than the +/-. I like the folders much better.

Other default settings

WhereSettingProposed changeDiscussion
Admin image galleriesGallery is visible to non-admin users?EnableSomeone just opened a bug report about that...this is probably not the first one to be confused. How many people leave that unchecked? Chealer9
User PreferencesUse double-click to edit pagesDisableIt is too easy for new users to enter editing mode by accident. — colorado?
Image galleries & File GalleryOther users can upload images to this gallery:Enable by defaultIf I create an image/file gallery, why wouldn't I, by default, want people to add? It's a non destructive operation marclaporte

MyTiki:
Try a clean install. As of now, tiki-my_tiki.php is not WYSIWYCA on a clean install.
My Tiki (pages, tracker items, etc) should all be on by default.)

Keywords

The following is a list of keywords that should serve as hubs for navigation within the Tiki development and should correspond to documentation keywords.

Each feature in Tiki has a wiki page which regroups all the bugs, requests for enhancements, etc. It is somewhat a form of wiki-based project management. You can also express your interest in a feature by adding it to your profile. You can also try out the Dynamic filter.
